Role overview
This is the most consequential hire on the engineering side. You will own how Cheerio AI builds: architecture decisions, release process, technical hiring, and the standard the team holds itself to. The platform already runs enterprise workflows for VFS Global, IndusInd Bank, Meta and Hero MotoCorp, so the work is not greenfield. It is raising the ceiling on a system that customers already depend on.
You will work directly with the founders and with Hardeep, our engineering lead. Expect to spend your time on three things: making the architecture calls that are expensive to reverse, unblocking engineers, and making sure what ships is worth shipping.
Key responsibilities
Own the technical architecture of the platform, including the ongoing product re-architecture, and make the calls on what gets rebuilt, what gets patched, and what gets retired.
Run the release process end to end: planning, review standards, test coverage expectations, and the definition of ready to ship.
Lead and grow the engineering team. Hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and the hard conversations when performance slips.
Translate product and commercial priorities into an engineering roadmap with dates the business can plan against.
Set and hold the bar on reliability, security and performance for enterprise deployments.
Stay hands on where it matters. This is not a role that stops writing code entirely.
Our tech stack
AI and orchestration: LangGraph for multi-agent workflows, Anthropic Claude via API as the primary LLM, Claude Code and Antigravity for AI-assisted development.
Search and retrieval: AWS OpenSearch for full-text and semantic search, PGVector for vector similarity inside Postgres.
Backend and infrastructure: Next.js, AWS Lambda, Postgres, Supabase.
Design and prototyping: Lovable for design reference and rapid UI scaffolding.
What we are looking for
Experience leading an engineering team at a product company, with real accountability for delivery dates and system reliability.
Strong architecture judgement across backend, data and cloud infrastructure, ideally in a multi-tenant SaaS context.
Track record of improving how a team ships, not just what it ships.
Comfort operating with enterprise customers where downtime and data handling carry contractual weight.
Willingness to make a decision with incomplete information and own the outcome.
